And lo, on the last day of March, a host of new shinies did appear, and the people rejoiced.

(Sorry. This is what happens when I spend all my spare time - hah! - learning to chant Torah.)

I just added 15 new shinies to the store - a mix of pendants, earrings, and necklaces, including the the first of this year's April Showers pendants - a classic limited edition that first launched ten years ago!

If you browse back a page or two on the Ready To Ship category, you'll also notice some vintage-inspired cocktail rings, a few pairs of earrings, and an ancient Roman coin pendant that I snuck onto the website at various points in the past two weeks - I've been experimenting with adding things to the store as I make them some of the time, rather than putting them all up at once the way I usually do.

(What do you prefer - all at once every week or so, or as I go along? It used to be so time-consuming to get things on the website that I had to batch them, but now that I can do almost all of it from my phone, it's easier for me to put things up right away.)

Tonight I'm off to my adult B'nai Mitzvah class where I'll probably be practicing chanting my Torah portion in front of all my classmates (meep!) and then to Manchester to compete in the first round of Slam Free or Die semi-finals (double meep!). Tomorrow Miles and I are heading to NYC for the weekend to visit friends and go bead shopping and eat many delicious foods that are not available in New Hampshire. I AM EXCITE. There will be many photos on Twitter.

(I made the mistake of telling Miles about the trip on Tuesday, and had to deal with multiple tantrums that night because she wanted to go RIGHT NOW and it wasn't fair that I was making her wait ELEVEN HUNDRED YEARS until Friday. Also you should know that I am the worst parent ever because I won't let her have cake for dinner every night and her sparkly shoes don't make rainbows in the dark and I won't let her stay up reading until midnight because I am the meanest. And the dogs LOOKED AT HER can you even believe how hard life is when you're five?)

I'll be doing a shipment in the morning before we leave, but if your order comes in after 8 am Friday, please know that it probably won't ship until Tuesday or Wednesday, because the cats don't have thumbs and I can't pack things by telekinesis. It'd be nice if I could, though.

Have a great weekend!

Hi, LJ! Anybody still out here, or have you all moved to Twitter and Facebook like me?

My friend Brooklyn took this photo recently, and I love it because it so perfectly sums up my job: I get to hold magic in my hands every day.

I wanted to write something eloquent and beautiful about art and faith and Wyrding Studios turning ten... but then I woke up last Friday with a respiratory infection that landed me in bed for a day and a half. I've been racing to catch up ever since, and there's a symmetry to that.

I don't actually know when I "officially" launched WS back in 2005. I know my last day at my old job was October 15th, and I know I planned to do a grand opening on November 1st, but I came down with the flu and ended up just unceremoniously putting a bunch of shinies on the website sometime in early November and I never looked back.

And for the past ten years, that's been my life. Unpredictable. Full of unplanned detours. Always running a little behind, always leaving something unfinished at the end of the day. never quite getting enough sleep.

But always, always, magic.

Writing something eloquent? It's not happening tonight, and I don't want to keep you waiting any longer. So instead, I'm just going to repeat something from last year's anniversary letter, because every word is still true.

This is my love letter to all of you. Some of you have been with me from the very start, some of you found me over the years, some of you have just stumbled across me today, or last week. You’ve shared your stories with me, trusted me with your secrets so that I could make them into art for you, sent me silly things in the mail, kept me company virtually when I’ve worked far too late into the night, bought my work, told your friends about it. You’ve helped keep a small business - and the woman behind it - going for nine ten years. A quarter of my life.

Thank you.  I write something like this every year, and every year I don’t really have the words to say how much it means. This year, more than any other year before, I don’t have the words. Just… thank you. And there is gratitude, and hope. Because I’m pretty sure I’m learning to fly on my way down.

Thank you. It's been a wonderful ten years. Let's keep going.

Okay, that's enough schmoop. It's getting too dusty in here. Let's get on to the details and the deals!

  • Lots of new shinies, including some from my personal collection that I've decided to send out into the world because I never wear them.

  • Coupon code TENYEARS takes $10 off any order of $45 or more, plus you'll get a free exclusive anniversary pendant that will never be available for purchase.

  • Spend $50 or more (after discounts are applied) and you'll automatically get free domestic shipping too!

Also, meet Jackdaw, the newest (and noisiest) resident of Magpie House. She turned up on my doorstep the day before Halloween, and when I realized she was declawed, I took her in. She's not microchipped and I haven't been able to turn up her owners, so... she's living in my studio until I can afford to get her to a vet for bloodwork so I can start socializing her with my other critters. And if anyone knows how to make my printer stop printing eleventy-three copies of the Amazon return label I printed the other day, please let me know, because no amount of clearing my print queue or turning it off and back on seems to undo whatever she did to it.

This update is half of the 24 items made especially to accompany Unwritten Stories #2, which is either one long and obstinate poem that can't make up its mind about the shape it wants to take or 24 intertwined micropoems... about astrophysics, technology, creativity, magic, and space travel. Read on to find out how you can get a free advance copy of this issue before it's available to the general public!

Also, $9 dichroic glass pendants.

Last week was a rollercoaster, to put it mildly.

Click the link if you want to know all the details, but to quickly give you the highlights:

  • After nearly a year, my divorce is almost over; all that's left is signing the papers.

  • Lawyers are expensive. So are taxes. Therefore...

  • ...coupon code SAVETHEEVERYTHING takes 25% off these shinies!

  • ...neckvines are on sale for 50% off!

  • ...there's a special deal for new Earring Club subscribers.

  • ...I'm doing an Instant Gratification session on Tuesday!

  • ...and every order placed before April 15th gets a free signed advance copy of Unwritten Stories #2.

  • P.S. I'm finally back to work full-time and it is awesome.

Now, some accountability stuff:

My lawyer was paid in full Thursday morning. Depending on what I hear from my accountant today regarding the money I owe the IRS, I will either be able to pay the back property taxes in full this week or pay off enough that I will easily be able to cover the rest before the May 15th deadline to avoid having a lien imposed. (Also I just learned that I need at least $700 in car repairs, but that's what credit cards are for, right?) Money's still going to be tight for a while, but thanks to everyone who stepped in, I definitely don't have to worry about groceries and the mortgage. Thank you.

And now here's what's up with orders from last week:

With a very few exceptions, all orders that didn't involve neckvines or mindfulness pendants have been shipped; orders that involved neckvines have been processed and are going out today, and orders that involve mindfulness pendants will go out Tuesday or Wednesday. Subscriptions should go out by Friday. Orders that come in today and tomorrow will go out in Wednesday's shipment along with Instant Gratification orders, unless they involve neckvines or mindfulness pendants, in which case they'll go out as fast as humanly possible.

Happy spring from the snowy wilds of New Hampshire! Happy World Poetry Day to all my fellow writers!

Today I'm launching a project that I've been thinking about for almost two years: Unwritten Stories. Every piece of jewelry now comes with a tiny fragment of a poem or a story. Once or twice a month, I'll gather the most recent fragments into mini chapbooks. I'm publishing them under a Creative Commons license, and if you use any of the fragments in your own creative work, I would love to see what you make!

The first two chapbooks are now available! To celebrate the launch of this project, I have two special offers for the rest of March: jewelry orders of $40 or more will include a free copy of Issue #0, and I will hand-write an original fragment just for you into every copy of Issue #1.

I've also added 20 new pieces of jewelry to the store! I recently acquired a large quantity of broken vintage costume jewelry and I've salvaged some wonderful beads, many of which went into this update. I had a lot of fun working with these beads, and I hope you'll enjoy them too.

And last but certainly not least, because it's that wonderful time of year when I have to send a large amount of money to the IRS... let's have a sale! Use coupon code APRIL15 to take 20% off orders of $95 or more.

(I'd also really, really appreciate it if you could spread the word this announcement and sale. Between taxes and legal expenses in the Divorce That Never Ends, I'm going to be writing some very large checks in the next month, and every little bit of signal boosting helps tremendously. Thank you!)

Until next time,

- Kythryne
